Since Wain's mother was a church embroiderer, his father was a textile trader, and his namesake maternal grandfather was a tapestry designer, it’s likely that his later psychedelic patterns were influenced or inspired by the cloth patterns he spent his childhood surrounded by.

Wain was an advocate of families taking their pets with them and opposed the apparently then-common notion of letting them fend on their own while their owners were away.
