Louis Wain Fact #59:
"In writing on his art style, Wain emphasised that he always started with the ears: “if I try any other way the proportions are certain to go wrong. Why, I do not know.” This is seen in the only known footage of him drawing and might also be alluded to in this late artwork."

Tragedy, Tabby, is not for you;
Comedy suits you down to the ground.
Better to purr like a merry crew
Than all cry "Mew!" with a dismal sound.
Up spake Grimalkin and he said "Nay!
Both cats and men have different views.
If I were allowed to choose the play,
Then I would vote for the Tragic mews."
