Louis Wain Fact #44:
Wain was an avid collector of many things. When he was living with his sisters, he would constantly go out and spend money he didn't really have on various trinkets. Wain kept nearly everything he got while hospitalised too, leading to mice nesting in old newspapers he kept around.

Wain was an advocate of families taking their pets with them and opposed the apparently then-common notion of letting them fend on their own while their owners were away.
