Louis Wain Fact #40:
Among Wain’s many passing interests was apparently gemstone collecting. A 1902 an article in Conshocton Daily Age appeared. Sadly, the interest was short lived, as a ”bad bargain” in gems made him realise that he needed to put his artwork first.

Wain was an advocate of families taking their pets with them and opposed the apparently then-common notion of letting them fend on their own while their owners were away.
