Louis Wain Fact #35:
Wain’s later psychedelic patterns, in addition to being influenced by the textile designs of his upbringing, seem from unfinished examples to have been drawn on top of a grid. He may have achieved their striking symmetry by drawing ambidextrously and simultaneously.

Molly was a Mermaid
Living in the sea
And a happier Mermaid
There could never be
On her fifteen birthday,
Father Neptune said,
"What d'you think I've brought you,
Molly little maid?
Here's a fine new motor
So just jump inside,
And, my dear, I'll take you
For a splendid ride!"
